As part of our conservation first policy on Kaingo Private Game Reserve our Reserve Management team, lead by Jacque Fourie, the team must ensure that the animals mineral needs are met. These blocks or licks provide essential elements such as phosphorus and biometals, required for bone and muscle growth. Here a Giraffe gets down to a mineral block that our team has put out.

The Giraffe expends a lot of energy to get to the block as it splays its legs apart and then drops its head all the way down to its feet. This of cause tells the Reserve Management this mineral block is needed by the animals that utilize it. Sometimes our elephants can be very naughty and carry the blocks off into the bush, but then it helps to distribute the minerals to other animals that may have lost out if it had not been moved.
